The How-To of
Bridge-Building
Path to Parallel is a non-profit organization by youth, for youth. We aim to provide lessons, including remote options, to teach those without much experience or access to engineering and computer science, a chance to interact with it.
Our Vision
The Problem
48 U.S. counties have been identified as STEM deserts, meaning they lack adequate access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education and resources. (Baker, Texas A&M, 2020)
Many students grow up without full understanding of engineering and computer science. Even with interest, they may not have the means to learn about these fields. Many who aren't even in these STEM deserts struggle to find oppertunities to engage
with STEM concepts, and particularly tailor their own curriculum, because of the high cost of materials.
Our Solution
We hope to provide students of all ages and backgrounds with a deeper understanding of what STEM entails.
Through lesson planning, students will be able to take charge of what they would like to learn and expirement with, and with
our online resources, students can view what futures in STEM they might be interested in. We hope with our sponsorships, we can also
provide our students with more materials for their own hands-on experiences.
